Cadillac’s Last Stand? It Should Have Been.
GM declared bankruptcy in 2009 and, in a move that could only occur in politicized, i.e. state, capitalism, it was bailed out by the federal government.
Contrary to normal bankruptcy procedure, where the bankruptcy is filed in the state where the insolvent debtor is incorporated (Delaware), or where its major operations are carried out (Michigan), GM's bankruptcy was filed in New York City, the home of Wall Street. |
