The Roots of Boeing's 737 Max Crisis: A Regulator Relaxes Its Oversight
  • The safety of the jet was compromised by flawed supervision from the Federal Aviation Administration, a Times investigation found.

  • Regulators came to a troubling realization after the first 737 Max crash killed 189 people: They barely understood the control system that helped cause it.

Hiding a Cancer, In Plain View

  1. Q.: Since when is terminal cancer a "flaw?"
A.: When the symptoms become visible and the cancer has a propaganda machine to misinterpret the disease as treatable with a Band-Aid.

  2. Q.: How can you "barely" understand something?
A.: When the cancer is managing the patient's immune system.

  3. Q.: Is there a name for this cancer?
    A.: Yes.
In late-stage capitalism, the agencies of the state which regulate their respective sectors of the capitalist economy are infiltrated by agents of the capitalists they are supposed to regulate. The result is that the capitalists effectively regulate the state.

This infiltration of the state is the mechanism by which capitalism, an economic system, becomes a covert capitalist dictatorship, a political system.

The advantage of this covert arrangement is that when the dictatorship's failures cannot be hidden, e.g., in the crash of two airliners, they can be attributed by the propaganda apparatus to a failure within the regulatory agency, e.g., in this instance, "A Regulator Relaxes Its Oversight."

A bizarre twist of this deception is that it opens political space for "conservatives" to blame the failures of capitalism on over-regulation by the state.
