About the cover pic

The cover photo shows Hitler, his entourage, and the Olympic officials entering the stadium the Nazis built for the 1936 Olympic Games on the opening day, August 1, 1936.

The following picture shows Hitler and his motorcade passing through the Brandenburg Gate on August 1, 1936, the opening day of the Games. Since the motorcade is heading west, he's probably on his way to the opening ceremony. Note the Olympic flags between the columns of the gate.
